The Jackson Municipal Airport Authority (JMAA) is excited to announce a Drone Community Outreach Session on Tuesday, October 15th, at 6:30 PM at Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers International Airport (JAN). In partnership with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), this free event is designed to provide important information to current and future drone operators about regulations and restrictions governing drone usage near and around airports.
As the use of drones continues to grow in Mississippi and beyond, the public needs to understand the FAA guidelines better to ensure the safety of our airspace. The Drone Community Outreach Session will address key topics, including:
- FAA rules and regulations for drone operation
- Safe practices for drone use near airports
- How to navigate no-fly zones and restricted airspaces
- Drone registration and waiver applications
- A Q&A session with FAA and aviation experts
“Our goal is to provide valuable information to drone users so they can safely operate their equipment while remaining compliant with air traffic regulations,” said Rosa M. Beckett, Chief Executive Officer of JMAA. “This session is a great opportunity for anyone interested in drones to learn from the experts and ask questions.”
The event will take place in the Community Room on the 3rd floor of JAN and is open to anyone, from hobbyists to commercial drone pilots. With drones’ growing importance in various industries, this is a must-attend event for anyone looking to fly drones in the Jackson area and central Mississippi region.
