Airlines serving the Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers International Airport (JAN) anticipate a significant increase in passenger traffic during the Spring Break travel period which begins this week. The number of travelers is expected to rise significantly starting now until Monday, March 14th, 2022.
During this busy travel period, the peak hours for passengers departing JAN are 6:00 -8:00 a.m., 10:00 a.m. until noon, and then 2:00-6:00 p.m. daily. As a result of substantial air service options added by the Jackson Municipal Airport Authority (JMAA) at JAN this past year, volumes will be at or above the pre-pandemic levels. JAN will see more than 1 million passengers in 2022, a major increase from the volume of 2020 and 2021.
The world-class airlines flying in and out of JAN this Spring Break are American, Delta, Southwest, and United, connecting you to six (6) continents around the world. Every beach destination in the USA, Mexico, and the Caribbean is served by our great airline partners. And if city vacations are on your bucket list, they’ve got those covered, as well.
Remember to arrive two (2) hours prior to your flight departure. For questions on TSA checkpoint rules and regulations, along with helpful holiday hints, please visit www.TSA.gov. General information is found on our website: www.iflyjackson.com, including links to the airline and rental car reservation sites.
The Jackson Municipal Airport Authority (JMAA) proudly announces the re-opening of the Long-Term Parking lot for this peak travel period. This is in addition to the Garage and Surface lot. JMAA provides updated parking information on our website as well. The Long-Term lot is $10 per day, with shuttles operating from 5:00 a.m. daily.
Together we can fight COVID-19! To be in compliance with CDC, federal, state and local health mandates, JMAA has implemented measures to keep all passengers, customers, tenants, and employees safe during the COVID-19 era. These measures include the installation of hand sanitizers throughout JAN and Hawkins Field Airport (HKS); health and safety signage and announcements throughout airports and via social media, reminding passengers of the following:
- wear face coverings, as mandated by the CDC and TSA
- wash hands for 20 seconds with soap and water
- remain home and/or postpone travel when sick or experiencing flu-like symptoms adhere to floor decals to illustrate practicing six (6) feet of social distancing
- complimentary face masks may be available for passengers who do not have face coverings for travel (subject to demand)
- plexiglass shields at every airline ticket counter, car rental counter, and shoeshine stand.
American, Delta, United, and Southwest continue to provide outstanding levels of safety at check-in counters, gate areas, and inside aircraft cabins. For details on air carrier health and safety measures, please contact the specific airline.
And it’s never too early to book your summer trips! LET’S GET BACK IN THE AIR, JACKSON. Happy Spring Break from the Jackson Municipal Airport Authority: Your Connection to the World!
