The Jackson Municipal Airport Authority (JMAA) has partnered with the American Cancer Society (ACS) to raise Breast Cancer awareness among airport employees and travelers at the Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers International Airport (JAN).
On Friday, October 14, 2022, the famous big pink chair will land at JAN in the main terminal. From 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. travelers will have the opportunity to take selfies and share on social media platforms, tagging @JacksonAirports and using the hashtag, #FlyJANFightCancer.
“It is extremely important to spread awareness, not only for ourselves and our families, but for our employees and customers,” said John Means, JMAA Acting CEO. “We must do our part in honoring those we’ve lost, those who are in the fight, and those who have survived. This is one small way we show our solidarity in fighting against this difficult disease.
In addition to the Pink Chair event on Friday, during the month of October the JMAA encourages its employees to wear pink, get tested for early detection, and help spread awareness by forming a team for the upcoming Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Awareness Walk in Jackson, MS on October 29th.
“I’m so proud to be part of ACS and awareness campaigns such as this one, because we understand that in order to end cancer as we know it for everyone, we must fund breast cancer research to make transformational advances,” stated Jennifer Bennett, ACS Executive Director. “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer continues to advance the mission so that one day, no man or woman will ever hear the words “you have cancer!”. Ever Cancer. Ever Life.”
The JMAA and American Cancer Society thank you for your support in spreading awareness to fight Breast Cancer. Enjoy the Pink Chair and thank you for flying JAN, Your Connection to the World!
